Energy Recovery System Optimization of Sulfuric Acid Unit
Industry: Petrochemicals
Challenge
In this project, the energy recovery system of Acid Sulfuric unit in a petrochemical complex was studied. By using Pinch Technology and CHP Analysis, total electricity production of the complex increased by 8,054 (KW) and thus total procured required power reduced drastically.
- 1. Part of plant's needed electricity power results from recovered heats in this unit and thus plant's electricity production power increases.
2. Decreased energy intensity or in other words, the fuel consumption per unit of production decreased in the company and therefore energy efficiency in the plant raised.
3. The energy intensity of the overall production of plant was reduced which resulted in a lower product cost.
4. GHG’s emissions reduced due to less fossil fuel consumption.
